Behind the Scenes - Black Background Sessions in Paris and Georgetown Kentucky
Last month I had the privilege of traveling to Kentucky to shoot some black background sessions. I stayed at Concord Equestrian center, I used to work as a groom for them back when we called San Diego our home, but a little bit after I moved back to Idaho, they made the big move to Paris, KY. My best friend made the move with them so it's always nice to have a good excuse to jump on a plane and see her!
Initially I was hoping to add some more horse and rider portrait sessions in there, but I quickly changed my mind and was excited to focus on the art of black backgrounds! There's something so special about capturing stunning photos of an animal that means so much to their owners. I think black backgrounds don't get the recognition they deserve and I'll admit that I was once someone that didn't get the hype behind these types of pictures. But being able to take a horse that can be any color, age, breed , etc., capture their undeniable beauty, and turn it into artwork that every person can enjoy is pretty amazing. I mean who doesn't want a stunning photo of their horse hanging up in their house or barn for everyone to enjoy?!
